NH GRAFTON — Grafton Select Board and Budget Committee approved 2027 departmental budgets as health insurance costs rose 14.6 percent. Major approved budgets included Highway at $541,000; Police at $209,117; Recycling Center at $169,050; Fire Department at $57,450; and Library at $23,380. The board set a tentative ambulance budget of $64,000 for 2027, up from the current $50,000 Canaan contract, while acknowledging that Canaan had absorbed most of Grafton's active ambulance crew, leaving the town with nearly zero effective coverage.
Chris Thurston, Assistant Chief of the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department, was tasked with preparing a fire/ambulance consolidation plan to present publicly.
