NH GRAFTON — Grafton Board of Selectmen requires board approval for all new paid department hires. The selectboard unanimously passed the policy in response to public concerns about the police hiring process, in which Police Chief Russell offered Synthia a conditional position without formal board notification. Selectman Ed Grinley and Selectman Steve Darrow moved the measure, which applies to paid employees only.
In other business, the board signed a legal waiver to allow the town attorney to review a $50,000 ambulance service contract with Canaan, providing several months to evaluate emergency services alternatives.
